I was at Elgiganten and had the opportunity to listen to the Bose Lifestyle V35 which is the current top model in Bose’s Lifestyle V-class Home Entertainment Systems. Wow, fancy product name! Anyhow… Usually I am just interested in testing audio systems with music CD’s but since this system is an upscale home cinema system I asked for a Blu-Ray movie demo. Hooked up to the Bose system was a Samsung Blu-Ray player and I asked why? The sales guy explained it was because the Bose system does not have any integrated disc-player. I went: Oh, okay, so this 48.000 SEK system doesn’t actually play anything on it’s own? Sales dude: “No.” So with that straightened out the sales guy started a half-way-in chapter of the newly released movie “Inception”. It was a huge disappointment. The sound is strained and exhausting to listen to, the highs are distorted and irritating, the midrange is thin and weak and the bass is monotone, slow and fuzzy. Overall it sounded horrible. The design of the system is awesome, sure, but other than that you get a pile of crap for the 48.000 SEK which should be considered as a pure rip-off. 48K is a good amount of money which you could get a super awesome, good performing and nice looking system for less money and still have some cash left to by some movies and music for.
